Utah State Cross Country Teams Earn Team Academic Awards

Utah State's [University] men's and women's cross country teams received the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Academic Award, announced by the association this week [Feb. 14-18, 2011]. It is the fourth year in a row that both Aggie men and women have earned the team honors.

For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA all-Academic Team award, it must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five regional at their respective NCAA regional championship. The Aggie men held a combined 3.20 GPA and the women tabbed a cumulative team GPA of 3.25.

On the men's side, 152 institutions represented 31 conferences with the award. Fresno State, New Mexico State and Idaho were fellow honorees from the Western Athletics Conference. For the women, 192 institutions representing 30 conferences received the honor. Fresno State, New Mexico State, Hawai'i, Idaho and Nevada joined USU with the accolades from the WAC.

From the state of Utah, the Aggies were accompanied by Southern Utah, Utah Valley, Weber State and Utah for the women's awards and BYU, Utah Valley and Weber State on the men's side.
