Stop the Bleed Kits contain:

  • Tourniquet to restrict blood flow
  • Gauze dressings to apply direct pressure to the wound
  • Trauma shears to cut clothing if necessary
  • Gloves to protect the bystander from disease

Stop the Bleed Kits

Stop the Bleed Kits are small, portable medical kits designed to temporarily control bleeding caused by traumatic injuries or wounds. These kits are designed to be used by bystanders during an emergency event until professional medical help arrives. Stop the Bleed kits can be found in every AED box on campus. Large Stop the Bleed boxes can also be found in the TSC International Lounge, TSC third floor near the CAPS office, at The Spectrum concourse, and in the Library near self checkout.

To locate an AED, visit the USU online map.

Emergency Response Plans (ERP) contain guidelines for how to react in a crisis situation. Every Department should have its own ERP to ensure safety and minimize damage during an emergency event. These plans can be customized to the department's location on campus for helpful evacuation, shelter-in-place, or hazard assessment roadmaps.

Departmental Emergency
Response Plans

To request a departmental emergency response plan:

An Emergency Response Coordinator must be appointed by your department head, who will then be given access to the software to write your ERP.

Email emergencymanagement@usu.edu to get started.
