The newest book in the ETE Series, Cultivating a Sense of Belonging in Higher Education, will explore how belonging is fostered among students, faculty, educational developers, administrators, and communities.
"Belonging looks like inviting students to co-create rather than consume. It looks like sustaining cultures of care for adjuncts and students whose intersecting identities can compound their isolation. It looks like replacing competition with collaboration, and hierarchy with shared agency, especially as we consider collapsing the distance between students and educators. When students are empowered to contribute to their own learning and communities, their engagement is fueled by purpose rather than requirements. When every member of an institution understands the role they play in shaping a culture of belonging, together they can take action toward a thriving future. The scholars, practitioners, and educators featured here offer concrete strategies toward that vision of creating educational spaces where individuals are seen, valued, and connected; key human needs that will always be trendy."
