Our Workshops

Sparkshops
Sparkshops “spark” new teaching ideas for instructors. Each session, with different topics every semester, lasts about 45 minutes. Departments can also request Sparkshops for their instructors, or individual instructors can request them directly.
Offered every fall and spring semester.

EmpowerED: Enhancing Teaching Expertise Workshops
EmpowerED Workshops give practical tools and strategies for creating engaging, inclusive, and effective learning environments. Through interactive sessions, participants explore evidence-based teaching practices, develop student-centered approaches, and gain confidence in integrating technology and assessment techniques.
Offered throughout the calendar year.

Springboard to Action!
The Springboard to Action! Series gives USU instructors a day to implement a teaching practice they've been planning on incorporating into their teaching. Each workshop in the series focuses on a different theme.
Offered every spring break.

eLearnX
Co-sponsored by the Center for Empowering Teaching Excellence (ETE) and the Center for Instructional Design and Innovation (CIDI), this three-day event offers a hands-on exploration of tools and methods for online (asynchronous and synchronous) teaching.
Offered annually in late May.

Habits of Mind Integration
The Habits of Mind Integration event is sponsored by the Office of Academic Belonging and Learning Excellence. During this workshop, learning specialists share ways to integrate Habits of Mind into existing course structures, assignments, and assessments—promoting the mindsets, aptitudes, and dispositions students need to succeed at USU and beyond.
Offered annually in early-to-mid May

Concurrent Enrollment Workshop
This workshop helps concurrent enrollment instructors discover available USU resources and see how they support teaching excellence and community building. Participants learn about essential Habits of Mind for university success along with Canvas basics and key departmental resources.
Offered every spring semester.
