STEP 3: PREPARE

Familiarize Yourself with the University Honors Canvas Course

USU instructors use Canvas for course assignment tracking, discussion forums, communications, and grading. The University Honors Canvas course is where you will submit your Honors work and track your earned points. The Honors program will enroll registered students in the Honors Canvas course by May 1.

Complete Honors Pre-semester Tasks in Canvas

After registering for classes, Honors students learn more about the Honors Program by completing the following required steps:

  1. First-year Honors Requirements Quiz
  2. First draft of their 4-year Honors Plan

Students who are officially registered in Honors will receive detailed instructions for completing these tasks by May 1. Once both steps are finished, students will earn their first Honors point.

TIP: Review requirements on the University Honors Program page and in the University Honors Program Canvas Course to find answers to the quiz and to many questions students have as they progress through the Honors Program.

Schedule an Honors Advising Appointment

After completing their pre-semester tasks, Honors students are required to meet with their Honors Academic Advisor. All incoming students meet with an Honors Academic Advisor to review their self-developed 4-year Honors Plan no later than August 31. Students must successfully complete all pre-semester tasks before this advising appointment.

Connect with Honors Student Leaders

Meet the Honors Student Advisory Board and ask these student leaders a question.
