Honors students engage with the USU community by attending and reflecting on Honors, campus, community, or virtual co-curricular events that enrich their college experience.
Co-curriculars can be academically oriented or more community-building events, often (but not always) sponsored by an academic unit at USU. Students can use the Honors in the Know weekly email updates or review the Honors Events and USU Events to identify possible opportunities. None of these contain a list of all possible co-curricular events, because any intellectually stimulating university or community event that is not part of a student’s coursework counts. The aim of this requirement is to help Honors students explore a range of exciting academic opportunities in and around their campus community and to enrich their undergraduate education.
After attending the event, students reflect on the experience by writing a 150-200 words reflection articulating the connection between the co-curricular event and their academic classroom experience at USU. Reflections are due within two weeks of attendance, and each approved co-curricular reflection earns 0.5 Honors point.
