Synopsis
This collection of essays is a wonderful introduction to issues facing Indigenous peoples in North America, written by a master storyteller in prose that can be both hilarious and heartbreaking. The book asks readers to think about the importance of storytelling as a culturally specific phenomenon but also as something inherently human. Maybe more than any other book, The Truth about Stories set me on the path that led to me studying (and now teaching) Native American and Indigenous literatures.
