Synopsis

 "Fahrenheit 451 is a classic. Written in 1953, the novel depicts a futuristic society in which books are forbidden. The story follows Guy Montag, who is a fireman—only he does not put out fires; he starts them. He burns books and the houses that contain them, and his world is one where people spend all day watching television. Information that people only learn through mass media is completely controlled by the government. What would it be like to live in this kind of world? Would it resemble our world today, or how would society be different? This Honors Book Lab will discuss the impacts of censorship on society, the influence of mass media, and the importance of critical thinking and independent thought."
