Big Agg Show, Weeks of Welcome 2024
This year’s Weeks of Welcome proved to be a resounding success, showcasing an impressive array of events and activities that engaged the entire university community. Here's a recap of the highlights:
Festival on the Quad: The event was a major draw, with over 79 volunteers supporting more than 4,000 attendees. The festival featured 4,000 servings of popcorn and popsicles, adding a tasty touch to the night's festivities.
Day on the Quad: This year’s Day on the Quad saw an impressive turnout with 93 off-campus groups and 260 campus organizations participating. This vibrant showcase of local and campus talent fostered community spirit and engagement.
The Big Agg Show and Campout on The Quad: Combining musical entertainment with outdoor fun, The Big Agg Show featured six local bands and, along with the USU Hurd's campout, attracted over 1,200 attendees. The USU Rugby Team grilled 800 hotdogs, keeping the crowd fed and happy.
Movie on Old Main: The movie screening drew more than 3,000 students, who enjoyed 3,000 scoops of ice cream while watching.
High Stakes Bingo: All three sessions of high stakes bingo were sold out, with over 2,400 students participating. A post-event survey revealed that 70% of students felt a stronger sense of belonging to the Aggie community after this event.
Dinner and a Show: This event attracted 800 attendees and featured 500 meals, making it a well-received combination of dining and entertainment.
Lego Building Night: Creativity was in full swing with 150 builders participating in a night dedicated to constructing with Legos.
Glow in the Dark Disco: The Glow in the Dark Disco was a hit, drawing over 1,800 students who enjoyed a vibrant and energetic atmosphere.
Poetry and a Beverage: Featuring 30 student performers, this event captivated an audience of over 1,500, blending creative expression with social engagement.
Overall, Weeks of Welcome 2024 was a celebration of community, creativity, and all things USU, leaving a lasting impression on all students who participated. These first two weeks are highly crucial to the Department of Student Affairs to cultivate a good experience for new and returning students to kick off the year in a positive way.
