Canvas LTI Tools Overview
Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) tools are add-ons for Canvas that enhance teaching and learning by providing interactive content, external resources, and additional ways to assess students. This page lists all approved LTI tools available at Utah State University and explains how to request new tools.

Who Pays for These Tools?
The funding for LTI tools varies depending on agreements with vendors. Below are the main funding models:
- USU Funded: USU licenses some tools for broader use by students and instructors. These agreements may cover all students or a limited number, depending on campus-wide instructional needs and budget priorities.
- Student Paid: Some vendors use a direct-to-student pricing model, similar to textbooks. Students purchase access individually, often through the campus store or as part of their course fees. If instructors declare the tool as a course material, it is typically included in Aggie Access, USU's equitable access program, which provides students with all required materials for a flat rate.
- Instructor/Department Funded: Some tools are purchased at the instructor or department level when an institutional license isn't available. In these cases, the cost is covered by individual faculty members, department budgets, or other funding sources.
