Activating Your USU OneNote Account
As part of your student account with Microsoft 365 (a#@usu.edu), you can use Microsoft OneNote. Instructors may integrate OneNote into their Canvas course for collaboration and sharing content.
If you are already logged into a work or personal Microsoft account, you might have to log out and restart your browser for these instructions to work.

To Activate Your Account
Navigate to the homepage of a Canvas course
(Your teacher must have already activated OneNote for their course.)
In the left navigation, click Class Notebook

Click Sign in to OneNote
Enter your student email address in the text box and click next
In the Single Sign-on page, enter your A number and USU Password
When you are asked if you want to “Stay signed in?” select “No” if you are on a public computer
Note: After your account is verified, your class notebook will be ready to go. You can open it online, or from the OneNote desktop application.
Accessing Your Class OneNote Shared Notebook
The easiest way to access your class notebook is to click Class Notebook from your Canvas course navigation.
You can also access it directly from OneNote online or through the desktop application.
Online
Go to owa.usu.edu (Outlook Web Access)

Sign in with your A number and USU password

Choose whether you want the computer to keep you logged in
In the left navigation, click the OneNote icon


From the list, choose your class notebook (if it doesn’t appear in your recent list, choose the Class notebooks category)

Desktop Application
If you've downloaded the desktop application, you can access all your notebooks from your desktop. An Internet connection is needed to sync any changes made in the desktop app.
Open OneNote

Click Sign In
Enter your USU email address

Sign in with your A number and USU password
Click Start Using OneNote

Navigating Class OneNote
The image below is a screenshot of the OneNote online. It shows the various sections that students will have access to: (1) _Collaboration Space, (2) _Content Library, and (3) a section that will be titled with your name. (There may be additional or different notebook sections depending on how your instructor sets up the notebook.)

(1) Collaboration Space
Teachers and students will have access to edit sections and pages within the collaboration space. Your instructor may revoke student editing privileges, based on his or her preference.(2) Content Library
The content library is a read-only space for students. Your instructor may add notes in this section that you will be able view but not edit. This section is likely to contain notes your instructor draws during class.
(3) Personal Library
Any documents you need personal access to will be kept here. This might include notes assigned as homework.
