11:30 am - 1:00 pm    Benefits of Livestock Grazing

Seminar/Symposium / Wildland Resources

The benefits of livestock grazing in Utah are often unseen or misunderstood. Cattle and sheep are more than just a source of local food. When grazing is conducted using proven scientific management practices livestock can increase wildlife numbers, improve water quality and quantity, reduce soil erosion, and decrease air pollution. Livestock ranching continues a family tradition in the West that strengthens communities with jobs and economic activity. Come see how these cows are considered the best friends of hundreds of bird and wildlife species in Northern Utah. Presenting will be Bill Fenimore, a leading Audubon Society Council leader in Utah, Bill Hopkin, a former manager of one of Utah’s largest cattle ranches, and USU Economics professor, Dr. Paul Jakus.
