Utah Public Radio Summer Garden Party
Fundraiser
Join Utah Public Radio for our annual summer garden party at Bruce Bugbee and Diana West’s historic home. Every summer for nearly 40 years, Bruce and Diana have created a beautiful, themed garden with help from the community. This year’s theme is yet to be announced, but it is sure to be just as stunning as ever! The evening will include buffet-style heavy appetizers, live music, and self-guided tours of the house and gardens.
Plus, you’ll have an opportunity to meet UPR’s new station manager, Frank Mueller, and bid well wishes to UPR’s beloved hosts and station managers, Tom Williams and Kerry Bringhust, as they both prepare for retirement later in 2026.

We'll be offering flag football, sand volleyball, outdoor soccer, and ultimate frisbee. An IM membership is $30 for a semester pass or $15 for a single-sport pass. Games start on September 14th for sand volleyball, September 21st for flag football and outdoor soccer, and September 28th for ultimate frisbee.

The American Red Cross will be here all week for the 23rd annual Blood Battle when USU and Weber State go to head-to-head in gathering the most blood donations. Help USU retain the Blood Battle trophy by helping to fulfill our goal of donating 375 units in 4 days--remember that one unit of blood can save up to three lives! Can't donate? No problem! You can still help by volunteering at the check-in desk to greet donors and help to set them up for a comfortable donation with Red Cross professionals. Utahns know the truth: our workplaces weren’t built for today’s families — and everyone is paying the price. Women continue to face stalled careers and limited access to leadership, while men who step up at home often face stigma or subtle penalties at work. The result? Women carry more of the caregiving load, men struggle to fully participate in family life, and Utah organizations lose out on the talent, innovation, and leadership they desperately need. In their new book Fair Share: How Men and Women Can Create a More Equitable Workplace Together, renowned gender‑in‑the‑workplace scholars W. Brad Johnson and David G. Smith argue that the system — not individual women or men — is the real barrier. And they offer a bold, research‑backed blueprint for leaders who are ready to fix it. This can be a good way to become involved with the ASC to then be selected for paid projects with major companies or join peer-led cohort projects and startups.

Welcome Week Logan Canyon Climbing

Join us for an afternoon of Rock Climbing at the Fucoidal Quartzite crag within Logan Canyon. The crag’s distinctive quartzite rock is textured and solid, featuring black and white rippling patterns that create unique holds. As you climb, views open up of Logan Canyon’s steep walls, forested slopes, and the winding canyon below. This trip is perfect for beginners looking to climb outside on top rope.

Welcome Week Color Run

As part of our Welcome Week events, we're hosting our 3rd annual Color Run to cap everything off! This will once again be a 2-mile fun run starting at the ARC and ending on the Quad. The event is open to anyone but will cap at 200 spots. The race is $10 for students, $15 for faculty/staff, and $20 for community members. Registration includes attendance and a Color Run T-shirt and opens on August 15th.
