Collaborating with AI: Practical Approaches for Engineering Instructors (Seminar for Faculty and TAs)

This workshop frames AI as a collaborative partner. It focuses on how faculty can leverage AI to augment their existing skills in teaching, research, and administration, rather than viewing it as a replacement for their professional judgment. This interactive session will provide faculty with insights into the utilization of AI for various purposes, including debates on its ethical application and associated limitations. Given the extensive landscape of AI tools, the workshop will also recommend strategies to narrow down these options to meet your specific requirements. The session will highlight some of AI's limitations and introduce methods to address them. Applications of AI in teaching and learning will be discussed, with some insights shared into the use of AI for research and grant writing.
Requirements for the workshop: Laptop. Please have a research purpose and related research questions for a specific area you would like to explore, preferably a new area of inquiry. If you have a transcript from a Zoom call about a technical discussion, that is optional to bring along.
