From Vice President Brent Miller
USU research matters. Through the discoveries, technologies, and inventions of our faculty, we are solving important practical problems, boosting the state's high-tech economy, and supporting our students.
One of the most powerful learning experiences for students is working side-by-side with a faculty mentor on a research project. At Utah State, research, teaching, and learning are inextricably linked. Through research students apply the knowledge and skills they acquire in the classroom, in the lab, the field, the studio, and the archives. Utah State is recognized across the nation for its emphasis on student-centered, hands-on learning by faculty who care. We seek to enhance and increase the opportunities for students to engage in research. You can help us provide cutting-edge research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students. These opportunities prepare our students to be leaders in the information age as they head to graduate school or the workforce.
“One of the most powerful learning experiences for students is working side-by-side with a faculty mentor on a research project.”
An excellent faculty is essential to the quality of education at a research university. Our faculty is one of the most tireless in the nation, consistently winning grants and contracts to support their work—and engage students in the projects. Thanks to our faculty, USU is first in the nation in space research funding and among the top 10 non-medical schools in the West in total research. To maintain and grow our outstanding research programs, the Office of Research provides seed funds and purchases equipment to help them achieve their larger goals. Through your contributions, USU can support more research activity, which makes a difference in the daily lives of people across the state and around the world.
