AggieS STart SMart Program

Limited spots available. Students must live in Central Suites.

 

This program is designed to help first-year students persist within higher education. Students will work with an academic mentor to improve their academic, financial, and personal persistence. Upon admittance to the program, students will receive a scholarship to be dispersed in the following amounts: $75 upon admittance into the program for Fall semester, and $150 upon the completion of the fall semester requirements. Another $75 will be added upon completion of the spring semester requirements. Additional funds based on financial need may be assessed on a financial need basis. Financial need is determined through the financial aid office. In addition, students can choose to receive one pass/fail credit-hour toward graduation per semester enrolled.

Students admitted to this program must live within the Central Suites community. Consideration will be given to the first 10 students to sign up on each floor.

 

Learning Objectives


Upon completion of the Aggies Start Smart program, students will:

Establish a supportive living learning community with other first-year students

Identify and evaluate their academic and financial habits and on-campus student support resources

Pinpoint career, internship, research, major, or study abroad interests and opportunities

Build a connection with the USU community

Each student will be assigned an academic mentor. This mentor will lead students through the program. They will hold regular mentor group meetings, one-on-ones, and will send weekly emails.
