Screen Sharing Access

Screen sharing is disabled by default unless the host gives permission. If you are the host but are unable to share, make sure you are signed in.

To allow students to share content, click the Security button and check the box next to Share Screen

Allowing participants to share their screen in Zoom from the Security button.

Advanced Screen Sharing

Share Keynote Presentation

In order to share a Keynote presentation, you'll need to adjust your slideshow settings.

  1. Click on Keynote, then Preferences.
  2. Select the settings to "show pointer" and "Allow Mission Control and others to use the screen."

Be sure to share the whole desktop and not just the Keynote app. See Zoom's Screen Share a Keynote Presentation External Link Icon for more details.

Share Content from an iPad or iPhone (iOS 11 or higher)

In order to share your iOS device screen, you'll need to change some settings on your device first. See Zoom Help Center iOS Screen Sharing External Link Icon for details.

Allow Others to Progress PowerPoint Slides

You can allow another participant in the Zoom call to progress through PowerPoint slides shared by yourself or someone else. Enable Slide Control in your settings on zoom.usu.edu. Then when in the call and after sharing content full-screen, select Slide Control in the sharing toolbar. See Zoom Help Center Controlling Slides External Link Icon for details.

If you are using two computers for screen sharing, one of them will be designated as the host. By default, you have to be the host or co-host to share your screen. If you can't share your screen, you will need to use the second computer to designate the first as the host or co-host. (You could also change the meeting Security settings to allow participants to share their screen. Then students would be able to do so, as well.)

View Student Video Larger when Screen Sharing (Multiple Monitors Required)

If you would rather view students larger than what is available with the floating video panel, the setting to show your Zoom windows to other participants while screen sharing can be helpful. Your Zoom call will remain its normal size on one monitor while your content being shared will be on the other.

To activate this option, it will first need to be enabled within your account settings on https://zoom.usu.edu
